Gas Engineer in
Washington

What our customers say
Reviews from homeowners across the North East.
How we work and what it costs
Every engineer carries a Gas Safe ID card and will show it. Our registration is 634641 and you can verify it yourself on the official register at gassaferegister.co.uk before anyone touches an appliance.
Diagnostic work is a fixed fee to attend and identify the fault, then a fixed price for the repair agreed before anything is ordered. Certificates and servicing are quoted up front. Nothing is billed by the hour and no figure changes once work has started.
If an appliance turns out to be unsafe we will tell you plainly, explain why, and give you the options rather than simply condemning it and leaving. Where something can be repaired safely we would rather repair it.
What a gas engineer covers beyond the boiler
Most people only think about Gas Safe registration when the boiler stops. In practice a lot of the work across Washington is everything else: a fire that will not light, a cooker being connected, a landlord certificate falling due, or a smell of gas that needs someone out.
Gas fires and heaters
Gas fires need servicing as much as boilers do and get it far less often. The checks that matter are the flue, the oxygen depletion safety device and the combustion, and those are exactly what nobody does when a fire is simply lit each winter and forgotten. A fire in an unswept chimney or with a blocked flue is one of the genuinely dangerous things in a house.
Cookers and hobs
Connecting or disconnecting a gas cooker is Gas Safe work, not a job for a delivery driver, and it includes checking the connection, the stability bracket and the surrounding ventilation. It is a small job that people regularly get wrong.
Landlord gas safety certificates
If you let property in Washington you need a gas safety record every twelve months covering every gas appliance and flue. Given how much of the new town housing is rented, that is a lot of certificates. We issue the record on the day and can put multiple properties on one schedule so they do not expire one at a time.
Suspected gas leaks
If you can smell gas, the first call is the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999, not us. They will make the supply safe. What they do not do is repair your pipework or appliance, and that is where we pick it up, tracing the leak and putting it right so the supply can be restored.
The Washington specific bit
Housing here went up in phases, so whole districts share an age and a way of being plumbed. That matters for gas work as well as heating: pipe runs are fairly predictable, and on older phases the existing gas supply pipe is sometimes undersized for a modern appliance. That is checkable with a working pressure test, and it is far better established before you buy a new cooker or boiler than after.
What we cover beyond the boiler
Anything burning gas in your home needs a Gas Safe registered engineer, not just the boiler.
