We are LPG specialists in the North East.
If your property runs on LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) from a bulk tank or cylinders rather than mains gas, you need a specialist. Most heating engineers cannot legally work on LPG. We are Gas Safe LPG engineers covering Sunderland, off grid villages and properties without mains gas across the region.
What is LPG?
LPG stands for liquefied petroleum gas. It is the fuel used in homes that are not connected to the mains gas grid, which is around 4 million households across the UK and a meaningful share of rural properties in Sunderland, Durham and the wider North East. LPG is delivered as a liquid in either a bulk tank in the garden or in cylinders, then released as gas when you need to heat your home, run hot water, or cook.
The thing most people do not realise: a regular Gas Safe registered engineer cannot work on LPG. The qualification is separate. Most engineers do not bother to get it because the customer base is smaller and more rural. That leaves people in off grid properties stuck when something goes wrong.
LPG services we offer
From annual servicing through to landlord certificates and emergency repairs. All work carried out by a Gas Safe registered LPG engineer.
Why a specialist matters for LPG
Liquid Petroleum Gas behaves differently to natural mains gas. It is heavier than air, stored under pressure, delivered from bulk tanks or cylinders rather than a pipe network, and burns at a different rate. Engineers need a separate ACS qualification to work on LPG appliances and most North East installers do not bother to get it because the customer base is smaller and more rural.
That creates a problem for anyone living in a property without mains gas. When something goes wrong, finding a qualified engineer who will actually drive out to you can be hard.
Straightforward pricing, no surprises.
Every LPG job is priced up front. You will know exactly what it costs before any work starts, with no call out shocks and no inflated parts charges. Because LPG work varies by appliance, system and location, the fairest thing is to give you a clear quote for your job rather than a one size fits all figure. Tell us the make and model of your appliance and what is going on, and we will give you a price.

Where we cover for LPG
LPG demand follows where the mains gas grid does not reach. We cover LPG work across:
- Rural County Durham including Weardale, Teesdale and the villages around Stanhope, Wolsingham, Frosterley and Tow Law
- Properties without mains gas across our full 25 mile service radius from Houghton le Spring
- Holiday lets, converted barns and rural lettings requiring annual landlord certificates
- Static caravans and lodges on permanent residential sites where LPG is the primary fuel
If you are off grid and need an LPG engineer, give us a call. We routinely travel further for LPG work than for natural gas because the alternative is often nobody at all.
