What daily budget for Google Ads?

This sets the daily spend on the new search campaign.
How the campaign is set up
  • One campaign, three groups. Boiler repair and emergency, new boilers, boiler servicing. Every enquiry pools in one place, which is what gives Google's bidding enough to work with.
  • 25 miles around DH4, people actually here. There is a setting most accounts leave open that shows adverts to anyone anywhere searching about Sunderland. Ours is set to people genuinely in your patch.
  • Scheduled to the hours you can answer. A click at eleven at night that rings out is money gone.
  • Judged on calls, not clicks. Phone calls are counted as the result.
  • Each advert goes to the right page. A repair search lands on the repair page for that town rather than the homepage.
  • Wasted searches blocked. Free boiler grants, DIY guides, jobs and anything outside the area are on a block list.

Pages four and five of the plan have the rest.

2

What happens out of hours?

If somebody who is not on a plan rings at nine at night, what actually happens?
3

Which installer schemes are you on?

Each one unlocks a longer guarantee to offer and a listing on the manufacturer's own installer finder, which sends work your way.
4

Plumbing and commercial work

There is local search demand for both. If the answer is no we stop chasing them.
5

Are these prices still right?

They appear on the website and in the adverts, so they need to be current.
6

Which name is the business actually trading under?

Your Google listing, Facebook and Companies House all say Alex Robson Heating and Gas. The website and your email addresses say AR Heating and Gas. Google wants the listing to match the name on your van and your paperwork, so whichever that is, we bring everything else into line with it.
For the van · every job

One photo on every single job

Before or after, the boiler, the flue, the van outside the house, it does not matter. Straight onto your Google listing from your phone while you are still there. Photos are the biggest gap on your listing, and a listing that gets fresh ones regularly pulls in noticeably more calls than one that does not. One a job is the habit. Not one a week when you remember.

For the van · every review

Reply to every Google review

Every single one, including the five star ones with no comment, and the old ones already sat there. Replies count towards where you rank, and they are one of the last things somebody reads before deciding who to ring.

Three things that make a reply worth writing
  • Name the town. "Glad we got you sorted in Seaham" tells Google where your customers are. A reply that just says thanks tells it nothing.
  • Name the job. Boiler swap, power flush, service, emergency call out. Same reason, and it reads like you actually remember them.
  • Change the wording every time. Ten identical replies look automated to a customer and carry far less weight. Start from a template, then make it yours.

Swap the bits in brackets for the real name, town and job. Two lines is plenty.
